What is The Changeover Assembly?
In a reel-to-reel dual film projector booth, the film print alternates (avg every nineteen minutes) from projector/reel 1 to projector/reel 2 and so forth.
One lamphouse closes and another lamphouse opens.
For the projectionist, the changeover is a well-rehearsed, yet live and unique movement of rhythm and vision.
The art is carried within every film projectionist.
The Changeover Assembly is a place where all film enthusiasts and projectionists are invited to connect through their experiences and enjoyment of the moving image.
Who We Are
Changeover Assembly promotes the preservation of the art and craft of film projection. People must be reminded, and taught, how projecting is essential to why we create films. The theater is a space for learning, growth, and experience sanctified by the work of the projectionist.
